Three years on, influential lecturer manage posting in nearby HSS
DSEJ allows lecturer of Biochemistry to draw salary against post of Dogri subject

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Dec 19: Under the nose of Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) an influential lecturer has managed posting in a Higher Secondary School near his village, where there is neither a sanctioned post of the subject nor a single enrolment of the students in the subject.
The lecturer has managed posting in the school for the last over three years and authorities have evolved a solution for drawing his salary against the post of Dogri rather than transferring him to a particular school.
According to sources, a lecturer of Biochemistry has managed his attachment in the Government Boys Higher Secondary School RS Pura for the last over three years. “Despite the fact that in the said Higher Secondary School there is no sanctioned post of Biochemistry or a single enrolment of the students of the subject but despite the fact he has managed his posting from the Directorate of School Education Jammu”, sources said, adding that earlier the same influential lecturer had managed his posting in the nearby schools of the areas as his native village is also nearby.
Sources further informed that since the recruitment of the lecturer in the School Education department he has been managing his stay in nearby areas rather than working in the schools, where the post of Biochemistry actually existed. “Earlier the same lecturer had been drawing his salary against the post of Information Technology but at present he has been drawing his salaries against the post of Dogri subject”, sources informed.
“On the demand of the general public as well as the suggestions of the experts, the government had introduced the new subjects such as Biochemistry but instead of serving in the schools, where there are sanctioned posts, the lecturers have been trying their best to get a post of their choice, instead of teaching the subject for which they are actually recruited”, sources said, adding that the lecturer has been managing his posting in the border belt through his strong political connections as well as links in the office of Directorate of School Education.
“In real sense it is wastage of pubic-funds. There are many schools where there is shortage of lecturers but on the other hand there are schools where the lecturers have been posted without availability of sanctioned posts as well as enrolled students”, sources said, adding that the Lieutenant Governor led administration should take cognizance of the matter and streamline the working of the department without any further delay. Director School Education Jammu was not available for comments.
