GDC Udhampur organizes online lecture on Biodiversity

Jammu, Dec 19: Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur today organized an online lecture wherein a well known Biodiversity expert and Tree Talk Campaign crusader OP Sharma Vidyarthi IFS (Former PCCF and Director SFRI, J&K) was the resource person.
In his presentation, Vidyarthi deliberated in detail on various aspects of Biodiversity and appealed to the participants to play their part in the conservation of Biodiversity. Stating as how significant is each biological species in the sustainability of human race on this planet; he referred to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic caused by a tiny particle of life forms. In a journey over an International decade of Biodiversity, he has successfully organized 1050 Tree Talk outdoor sessions.
Earlier Prof. Romesh Kr. Atri, HoD Botany welcomed the chief guest, participating faculty and students and introduced the resource person. In his welcome note, Prof. Atri highlighted the significance of the theme of lecture and also expressed his gratitude to the resource person for his consistent encouragement and support over the last 10 years during which a rich ‘Botanical Garden’ has come into being in the college. He also expressed his thankfulness to worthy Principal Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma for his constant encouragement and moral support in organizing the event.
Prominent among the audience who attended the program include Angrej Singh KAS Asstt. Labour Commissioner Rajouri Prof. Imtiaz Shahid, Dept. of Zoology, Prof. Jawaid Sarver ,Prof.Sonia Raj, Dr. Anita Sharma, Dr. Bandana Mazal and Dr.Mokshe Sajgotra
Prof. Gurvinder Raj Verma HOD Sericulture coordinated the proceedings of the online event and also presented formal vote of thanks in which he specifically acknowledged the technical support of Prof.Shaji Khan , Dept. of English.
