| National Farmers Day Celebrated | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
Reasi, Dec 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated National Farmers Day (Kisan Divas)-2020 here today at KVK, Reasi premises.
The programme was organised under the able guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr. SK Gupta. The programme was started by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi with the warm welcome of the participants.
He briefed about the significance of the Kisan Diwas and highlighted the extraordinary contribution of farmers in agriculture.
He said that farmers have pivotal role to raise the economy of the nation by increasing the crops production and productivity.
He said that farmers are actively involved in providing the food to the nation and they need more trainings and technical advice on scientific farming.
He elaborated on the organic horticulture and guided farmers on the micro-entreneurship development in the rural areas so that their socio-economic condition can be improved.
Dr.Lalit Upadhyay spoke on entrepreneurship development in agroforestry and added that they should adopt the advance technologies in the agroforestry sector to enhance their farm income. Dr.Lobzang Stanzen , Dr.Arvinder Kumar and Dheeraj Sharma also spoke during this programme. Farmers interacted with the KVK scientist and asked various technical quarries which were answered by the scientist in a satisfactorily way.
