Mehbooba befooling people on DDC Poll results: BJP
12/25/2020 12:13:32 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 24: Taking strong exception to People's Democratic Party (PDP) president and deputy chairperson Gupkar Alliance Mehbooba Mufti’s statement that result of DDC elections was a refrandum against abrogation of 370 and 35 A BJP leaders while snubbing the PDP chief termed it nothing but her desperation. Commenting on the statement of PDP leader a BJP spokesperson said that her statement is bereft of the facts.
He said BJP got over four lakh votes in these elections double than what were collectively polled by NC, PDP, PC and Communists who formed the Gupkar Alliance. Moreover BJP seat share was also more than these parties and it emerged as largest political party in the UT so how the results were a refrundam against abrogation of 370 and 35 A. The spokesman of the party said moreover out of 50 independents 40 are supported by BJP while Apni party which has 12 members also does not ally with NC and PDP and have not opposed the abrogation of 370. The Congress which get 26 seats in BDC elections can't openly come against abrogation of 370 because it is the party which from time to time eroded the special status of the State and at that time Mehbooba' s father was in Congress who held important posts in organisation including the Government.
The BJP spokesman said that total strength of these members including 75 of BJP 40 independents, 12 of Apni Party and 26 of Congress crosses 150 which is totally a refrendum in favour of BJP, the spokesman added.
They said it was the Congress led by Mehbooba's father Mufti Mohammed Sayed which eroded special status by replacing Sadar-e- Riyasat with Governor, Prime Minister by CM brought J&K under the jurisdiction of Supreme Court and Election Commission of India etc and this way it had since eroded the special status since. Later Sheikh Abdullah who remained in political wilderness for 22 years accepted the eroded status of State by taking over as CM in 1975. What BJP did last year was its agenda and by removing the Article 370 and 35 A the party put last nail in the coffin of special status which the Congress had eroded by and by. The political analysts said the then PM Pt Nehru had even after inserting special status in the Constitution said in Lok Sabha that it will go with the span of time and it has happened. So Mehbooba is unnecessarily raking up the issue to befool people in Kashmir who have totally rejected her party which she failed to keep together.
