KVK, Reasi organises Training Programme on Recycling of Waste Flowers

REASI, Jan 5: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu has begun three days vocational training programme on "Value Addition in Floriculture" here at Sirah village in Reasi district of J&K which was enthusiastically attended by a large number of women farmers of the area. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, Prof.JP Sharma inaugurated the programme. Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr.SK Gupta briefed the objectives of the programme and urged the participants to utilize the waste flowers to make different types of products by selling of which women farmers can enhance their income. He suggested the participants to avail the avail the benefits of experts. All the SOPs under COVID-19 pandemic were strictly followed while conducting the programme. The dignitaries were welcomed by Dr.Banarsi Lal, Sr.Scientist-cum-Head, KVK, Reasi. The major objective of the programme was to boost the recycling of waste flowers so as to increase the income of women farmers and avoid pollution. While addressing the farmers the Chief Guest said that by recycling of waste flowers women SHGs can make attractive products. While addressing the participants he suggested the participants he said that there is need to focus on value addition in floriculture which can enable them to earn more profit as compared to other crops. He said the participants to avail the opportunities in the value added agriculture. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Sr.Scientist-cum-Head, KVK, Reasi said that there is ample scope for the recycling of waste flowers products as different types of products can be made from them.
