Owners face difficulty to get their vehicles inspected at RTO Jammu
1/5/2021 11:15:47 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 5: Dozens of private vehicle owners had to face huge difficulty in getting their vehicles inspected for extension of their vehicles registration certificates but the concerned inspecting officials didn’t bother to come out for inspection as a result the visitors had to return after wasting several hours.
The aggrieved visitors told Early Times that they had reached the RTO Jammu office today in the morning for the life extension of their private vehicles and for that reason, a necessary inspection had to be done by the concerned inspector but there was nobody present in the inspection ground to conduct the inspection.
“Although the Inspectors were present in the office but they didn’t bother to come out for the inspection, putting us on wait for several hours and after that most of the people left the place. There is no check on the accountability of the officials who derelict of their duty without fear,’ they alleged.
They alleged that it is a well-known fact that corruption has been ruling the roost in the Transport Department, wherein many officials are allegedly involved in the nexus. The recent raids of Anti-Corruption Department in RTO Jammu, ARTO Samba, Kathua wherein records were seized clearly vindicates the allegation of corruption by the general public.
Sources in the department informed the Early Times that some inspectors of JKRTC, who are on deputation in MVD, have been calling the shots due to which the general public have been facing harassment.
“There are several employees who are on deputation MVD, have strong connections at higher ups, which can be gauged from the fact that despite completion of their extension period, they are sitting in the office and not in mood to leave the place due to their ulterior interests,” they said.
Early Times made repeated attempts to contact RTO Jammu Dhananter Singh, through calls for a comment, but he didn’t pick up the phone for his version.
