Republic Day arrangements reviewed in Samba

SAMBA, Jan 5: The arrangements for smooth celebration of the Republic Day were today reviewed here at a meeting of the District and Sectoral Officers chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Rohit Khajuria.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jitender Mishra; Programme Officer ICDS, Anu Bhel; General Manager District Industries Centre, Sansar Chand, Assistant Commissioner Development, Sidharath Dhiman; Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), PHE, and PDD Division Samba, besides other District and Sector level Officers also attended the meeting.
The meeting decided that the main function would be organized at the Sports Stadium, Samba where the chief Guest will unfurl the Tricolour and take the salute at the March past comprising contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, FPF and NCC at 09:55 Hours.
The DC directed all district heads to ensure adherence to covid-19 guidelines by maintaining prescribed spacing in seating arrangements for the participants during the event. He also passed directions to district heads of Agricultural, Horticulture, Transport and Rural Development departments to present a tableau depicting their departments' achievements and information on the National Day parade in district.
Various other necessary arrangements were also discussed in the meeting which includes detailed security plan, drinking water facility at the venue, cleanliness and sanitation, seating arrangement, traffic management, power supply etc.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba Rajesh Sharma, said that fool proof security arrangements will be made for celebration of the National Day. He enjoined upon all the officers to cooperate with the security personnel while making necessary arrangements at the venue.
The DC directed XEN PDD and EO Municipality Council to replace/ repair the street / flood lights in the town and ensure installation of adequate lighting at the venue of celebration for security reasons The Tehsildar was asked to make necessary arrangements for refreshments during rehearsal period.
It was also revealed that the Republic Day rehearsals shall begin from January, 16 onwards and full dress rehearsal will be held on January 24, 2021.
