1/5/2021 11:00:18 PM
Early Times Report
ANANTNAG, Jan 5: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Kuldeep Krishan Sidha on Tuesday suspended Medical Officer PHC Khiram for remaining absent from duties and ordered a disciplinary action against him.
An order copy duly signed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag KK Sidha, reads "Pending enquiry into the unauthorized absence from duties, Dr. Faheem Shah, Medical Officer, PHC Khiram is placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached with Block Medical Officer, Bijbehara".
"Additional Deputy Commissioner (S) shall conduct an enquiry and furnish a detailed report within 5 days positively", order reads.
Earlier in the day, a pregnant lady was brought to PHC Khiram for treatment, however the family spotted the hospital locked.
"We brought her (pregnant lady) on Charpai from Ashdhar for treatment but once we reached here we found Hospital closed. After some time one Hospital employee (Medical Assistant) reached here and later checked our patient but we aren't satisfied we want to shift her to Bijbehara or Anantnag," family members told Early Times at PHC Khiram.
The family contacted several officers including Tehsildar Srigufwara and requested him to clear the road that connects PHC Khiram with Srinagar-Bijbehera road.
This reporter also brought the issue into the notice of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, SSP Anantnag, Additional Deputy Commissioner, ACR Anantnag and SHO Srigufwara.
After few hours, the health department came into action and started enquiring about the patient.
"I have checked the patient and she is fine," Abdul Rashid, Medical Assistant said.
Block Medical Officer Bijbehara Dr Iqbal Bichoo while justifying the suspension of Medical Officer told Early Times that he had already directed the concerned doctor to not leave the hospital.
"On Saturday, I called a meeting of Medical officers and directed them to not leave the hospital as there was prediction of snowfall but still he left the hospital," he said.
On the other hand, after 6 hours of wait, the district administration sent a machine to clear Khiram-Srigufwara road following which the patient was shifted to SDH Bijbehara.
