District Skill Committee discusses five years action plan at Ramban
DM stresses to focus on school dropouts

RAMBAN, Jan 5: District Magistrate (DM) Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan today chaired median meeting of District Skill Committee to chalk out the modalities to ensure quality, consistency and convergence in skill ecosystem of the district besides generating awareness of various initiatives launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship GIO.
Designation of Nodal point of District Nodal Skill Centre (DNSC) at district level was also decided.
The committee headed by District Magistrate comprising GM, DIC, CEO, District Social Welfare Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Convener, Superintendent ITI, Ramban, District Manager SC/ST corporation, District Officer, EDI, representative of Mission Director, J&K Skill Development Mission, upto three members from industry cluster and three others nominated by the DM has taken various decisions to formulate effective action plan.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on operationalisation of District Skill Committees and District Nodal Skill Centres in J&K, formation of skill action plans of the districts of J&K and human resource requirement mapping in remaining districts of J&K.
Speaking on the occasion DM said, “Focus of skill development schemes is to ensure creation of a robust skill ecosystem in the district which will enable the youth to get maximum skilling opportunities within their districts.”
The DM stressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts to formulate job oriented District Skill Development Actions Plans within prescribed time focusing on youth especially on school dropouts.
“Once formulation of district skill development plans is completed, the Skill Development Department will start training youth including women and other marginalized groups as per district requirements,” said DM.
Furthermore, the DM emphasized on the operationalisation of District Skill Nodal Centres (DSNC).
DSNCs have been established at district level for coordinating all skill development related activities of the district and they shall also provide secretarial assistance to the District Skill Committees.
