SSI Association seeks package of incentives for Micro Units
1/5/2021 11:17:13 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 5: The Small Scale Industries (SSI) Association, Jammu has demanded a special package of incentives for Micro industry which is on the verge of closure.
The President of the Association, Jatinder Aul and the General Secretary Anil Modi have sought intervention of the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to initiate immediate steps to prevent their possible closure in a near future.
Chairing the members of the Executive Committee of the Association, Jatinder Aul told the members that they have sent a memorandum to the Lt. Governor listing problems faced by the Micro units and sought their redressal on urgent basis.
Seeking 100% GST (SGST+ IGST) exemption to the existing Micro units without the condition of additional line under substantial expansion, he said that earlier, the incentive of 100% VAT remission was available to Micro sector which regrettably was withdrawn in the GST regime. Now, only SGST is refunded on value addition only and after depositing GST which is released after lengthy and tiresome process of documentation.
The President said that in every industrial package, most of the incentives are given to fresh units, perhaps to attract new investment in the industrial sector but the existing are always left high and dry.
The Association also asked for 100% Transport subsidy for sale of goods outside J&K so that entrepreneurs do not depend on local market for their survival.
Another issue raised was the effects of 3-year turnover clause incorporated in Govt tenders and said that these units cannot achieve such sales running in crores annually for successive three years in today’s situation.
It demanded waiving of this turnover clause in Govt tender for Micro units
The President also requested the Industry department to simplify the process of registration for allowing additional line of activity /product by the existing Micro units.
Urging the Lt. Governor to give urgent attention to the Micro Industrial sector, Jatinder Aul said that while the Govt is justified to attract outside investment in industrial sector but at the same time it was equally imperative to help making the existing micro units financially viable as they constitute the foundation of any industrial policy.
Among those who participated in the meeting included vice President of the Association, Deepak Gupta, General Secretary Anil Modi, Sanjay Chopra, Parveen Jain and Ved Sharma.
