Address ration shortage, curtailment in Kashmir, Apni Party to Lt Guv
1/18/2021 11:11:06 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Jan 18: Expressing serious concerns over the 'shortage of ration and the arbitrary curtailment in food supplies quota in Kashmir', Apni Party senior leader and former minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir on Monday urged the Lt Governor administration to address the issue on priority.
Mir alleged that there exist an awful shortage of ration supplies in the valley and the Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Kashmir appears to be in deep slumber.
"The closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has created a chaotic situation in the Kashmir division. There is a huge shortage of food grains and fuel supplies in the valley. People are suffering immensely but the Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Kashmir appears to be sleeping impervious to the grievances of the citizens," he said.
He took a strong note of the arbitrary decisions that are being introduced every now and then. "Making Aadhar Card link mandatory for availing monthly ration is just another example of a hasty and arbitrary decision taken by the CAPD department. Such authoritative orders create only inconvenience for the people at large. The problems and concerns of general masses need to be taken in confidence first before rolling out such edicts," Mir said.
While raising the plight of Fair Price shop owners of Kashmir division, Mir expressed his anguish over the disparity. "The Fair Price shop owners in Kashmir are asked to pay in advance for the rations they procure from the department while the same is given on account in Jammu division.
I can't understand these double standards. Furthermore, there appears to be some schematic delay in the issuance of licenses to the already sanctioned fair price shop owners who have applied a long time ago. The Government must come clean over these issues and should understand that such steps will only swell the count of unemployed youth in the division," he added.
Mir expressed his profound grief over the hapless episodes of an overnight fire that gutted several residential houses in Sekidafar area of Safa Kadal in Srinagar and seven shops in district Kupwara.
He said the families that face such tragedies have gone from riches to rags. This has left the suffering families necessitous. "The government should immediately dispatch relief teams to ground zero that will take stock of the situation. It's imperative that smooth dispersal of compensations be done on a prompt basis," he expressed.
