Mehbooba's attempt to douse flames has no takers
Crisis in PAGD
1/18/2021 11:12:59 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Jan 18: After claiming that "All is Well" within the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), vice-president of the amalgam, Mehbooba Mufti has once again gone silent.
It may be recalled that Mehbooba had spoken up after longtime when senior leaders of Peoples Conference, Imran Raza Ansari and Abdul Gani Vakil had accused National Conference of fielding the proxy candidates in the recently held District Development Council (DDC). They have been demanding that the PC led by Sajad Gani Lone should pull out from the PAGD as their party has been "backstabbed" by the alliance partners.
As the crisis snowballed into a major controversy, Mehbooba had stepped in to diffuse the tension by claiming that a "false propaganda" has been launched against the PAGD-conglomerate of Kashmir centric parties-but after that she has once again turned mute as her act to douse the flames was not reciprocated by the National Conference leaders.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Despite the PC leaders raising hue and cry, the NC leadership has not reacted. The party has simply ignored the allegations that are being leveled by Ansari and Vakil. It appears that NC is least bothered about PC remaining a part of the PAGD or not. Till date the NC leaders have not even spoken to Mehbooba and other PDP leaders. It appears that the NC wants to head all the DDC boards as it has won more than 65 seats, while other parties have not done that well in the recently held DDC elections.``
He said, "It appears that Mehbooba has realized that leaders of other Kashmir centric parties, including NC, are ignoring her and it's no point beating the trumpet of unity. Despite Mehbooba trying to send a message to the PC leaders to bury the issue of proxy candidates, Anasri and Vakil have not changed their stand and are insisting that Sajad should say goodbye to PAGD."
The analyst said that Mehbooba not getting any response from anywhere has left her "embarrassed." "It's better for her to remain quiet, and act as a spectator. She has lost her credibility as a leader," he added.
