Fake appointment racket busted; CB arrests notorious fraudster

JAMMU, Jan 18: Crime Branch Jammu arrested a notorious fraudster, who was absconding, from Beli Charana area in the outskirts of Jammu city.
The accused, who has been identified as Manzoor Hussain Qadri, son of Late Ghulam Hassan Qadri of village Poshwani, Tehsil Pattan, District Baramulla, was wanted in case FIR No. 28/2015 U/s 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B/ RPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu for his involvement of crime in forging fake appointment orders and cheating unemployed youth in league with a gang of other fraudsters.
The fraudster was not cooperating in the investigation of the case and was constantly evading his arrest. However, Crime Branch Jammu developed specific inputs about his presence and location in a particular area. Accordingly the accused was zeroed in by CBJ team and subsequently arrested to face investigation.
A written complaint was lodged in Crime Branch Jammu by Radhey Sham, son of Chuni Lal of village Kanah Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua, who alleged that in the year 2009 he came into contact with Swarn Lal, son of Daya Ram of village Mahesha Chak Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua who introduced himself to be a government employee and brother of an Army officer and told the complainant that he can arrange jobs in the Territorial Army for a monetary consideration of Rs 1.5 lakh per person. As many as twelve unemployed persons were allured by the accused Swarn Lal to pay him Rs 50,000 per head as advance and Rs 1 lakh after getting appointment order and a huge amount was extorted by the accused person along with accused Hamid Dar from unemployed youths at Dayala Chak Hiranagar District Kathua and after that at Srinagar also.
On receipt of complaint a preliminary enquiry was initiated and allegations were prima-facie substantiated and the instant case was registered at P/S Crime Branch Jammu against the accused - Manzoor Hussain Qadri and other co-accused Swarn Lal, son of Daya Ram of Mahesha Chak Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua and Abdul Hamid Dar, son of Sana-Ullah Dar of village Kalantra District Baramula A/P HMT Zainakot opposite Hr. Sec School Srinagar and others.
During the course of investigation it has been found that the accused is a habitual offender and notorious criminal. Warrant U/S 512/Cr.PC stands issued against him by the Court for effecting his arrest as he is not cooperating in the investigation of the case. The accused was an employee of Forest Department and was later dismissed / discharged from the service. Subsequently, he joined the gang of other co-accused and started luring and duping the unemployed youth on the pretext of providing Govt. jobs in Army, Forest Deptt. UEED. and other para-military forces. He is also involved in as many as 08 criminal cases registered in different Police Stations viz Case FIR No. 17/2012, 28/2015 and 46/2020 of Crime Jammu, 36/2014, 15/2016, 65/2016 and 07/2019 of Crime Kashmir and 124/2017 Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar. He has obtained different SIM cards after obtaining fake Adhar cards on fake identities of other people.
