JK reports four more COVID-19 deaths; 88 fresh cases, positive cases reach 123852

SRINAGAR, Jan 22: The death toll due to the COVID-19 in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1,928 after four deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 88 new cases today following which the number of positive cases reached 1, 23,852.
While two deaths were reported from Kashmir valley two others came to the fore from Jammu division. In the Kashmir valley the deaths were reported from Budgam district while in Jammu district two such deaths were reported in past 24 hours. So far 1,209 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while the number of deaths in Jammu division is 719.
Jammu district reported 32 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 18 cases, Budgam district five cases, Poonch, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag and Ganderbal districts four cases each, Kupwara and Rajouri districts three cases each, Bandipora, Kulgam and Udhampur districts two cases each and Doda district one case. No case was reported from Shopian, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 88 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 42 from Jammu division and 46 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 23,852. Also four COVID-19 deaths have been reported today, two from Jammu division and two from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 97 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 30 from Jammu division and 67 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 23,852 positive cases, 1,098 are active positive, 1, 20,826 have recovered and 1,928 have died; 719 in Jammu division and 1,209 in Kashmir division.
Out of 43, 61,420 test results available, 42, 37,568 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 10, 63,342 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,824 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,098 in isolation and 81,515 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 43,977 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,967 positive cases, 267 active positive, 25,247 recovered, 453 deaths; Baramulla has 8,078 positive cases, 54 active positive, 7,851 recovered, 173 deaths; Budgam has 7,738 positive cases, 50 active positive, 7,571 recovered, 117 deaths; Pulwama has 5,690 positive cases, 65 active positive, 5,537 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,638 positive cases, 51 active positive, 5,493 recovered, 94 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,865 positive cases, 44 active positive, 4,737 recovered, 84 deaths; Bandipora has 4,685 positive cases, 27 active positive, 4,597 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,585 positive cases, 71 active positive, 4,468 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,688 positive cases, 38 active positive, 2,596 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,557 positive cases, 34 active positive, 2,484 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,808 positive cases, 218 active positive, 24,220 recovered, 370 deaths; Udhampur has 4,193 positive cases, 39 active positive, 4,097 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,867 positive cases, eight active positive, 3,804 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,428 positive cases, five active positive, 3,359 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,252 positive cases, five active positive, 3,196 recovered, 51 deaths.
“Samba has 2,826 positive cases, 75 active positive, 2,711 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,731 positive cases, two active positive, 2,707 recovered; 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,489 positive cases, 31 active positive, 2,434 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,130 positive cases, five active positive, 2,104 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,637 positive cases, nine active positive, 1,613 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 23,852 positive cases in J&K, 11,516 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
