Jammu, Jan 31: Oil Industry in J&K comprising of IOC, BPC & HPC under the flag of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), organized a cycle rally comprising of over 200 cyclists. The participants included cyclists from various walks of life which included children from schools, citizens of Jammu in addition to professional cyclist from various Jammu based cycling clubs.
The Cyclothon was flagged off by chief guest Deepak Digra, SP City Jammu South in presence of Rajiv Yadav, state level co-coordinator cum DGM (RS) IOCL from Indian Oil Divisional Office complex at Rail Head Jammu. The objective of the cyclothon was to make the citizens aware about the need of conservation of Petroleum products as these are limited and will deplete over the years to come. Deepak Digra gave a brief on Oil Conservation by employing various day to day activities which included cycling by the citizens.
He particularly emphasized on using helmets & other safety kits for safety while riding bicycles. Rajiv Yadav also briefed the gathering that how excessive use of petroleum products is causing damage to the environment and raising other alarming issues like global warming
Rakesh Roshan Sr. Manager Indian Oil Corporation informed that month-long awareness programme was inaugurated on January 16th under title Saksham 2021 (Sanrakshan Kshmata Mahotsav) which will conclude on 15th February 2021.
Ravinder Singh, President Jammu cycling association was the guest of honour who briefed about the achievements of UT based cyclist in national cycling events and also motivated the gathering to use more and more cycles to save environment and save fuel.
