Says fraudulent appointments were made, appoints 3-member fact finding team

Jammu, Jan 31: The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a fresh probe into the irregularities at the Skill Development Department even as the appointments that were made in the last around a decade are being called as being “fraudulent.”
The official documents as accessed by the Early Times reveal that the General Administration Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu has reconstituted a fact finding committee to probe the bungling. The new team will comprise of three members with one of them as the Chairman.
“Re-constitution of Fact Finding Committee to examine fraudulent appointments in Skill Development Department. Government Order No:32-3K (GAD) of 2021 Dated:15.01.2021,” the order reads.
“In supersession of Government Order No. 578-GAD of 2019 dated 11.05.2019, it is hereby ordered that the Fact Finding Committee constituted in terms of aforesaid Government order for looking into fraudulent appointments made between 2010-2018 in the Skill Development Department and Autonomous Bodies/Corporations /Organizations' under its Administrative Control,” the document reads.
The Fact Finding Committee shall comprise of Principal Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department as the Chairman.
The other two members of the three member team include Secretary to the Government, Department of Disaster Management, Rebel, Rehabilitation.
“The Committee shall identify those responsible for fraudulent appointments, if any, and submit its report by 15.02.2021,” reads the order issued by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Secretary to the Government.
Sources said the decision has been taken on the instructions of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha who has promised zero tolerance against corruption.
Sources said one of the “workers” of the PDP had been given a key position in the skill development and is accused of having appointed his nears and dears for the government jobs.
“The said person was appointed in violation of norms solely on the basis of his affinity with them( PDP),” said a senior official.
He was subsequently sacked by the Raj Bhawan.
