EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 31: Expressing resentment against denying jobs to the local unemployed youths in under construction power projects in Kishtwar District, the unemployed youths of Nagsini Tehsil today held a protest against the private companies.
Speaking to the Early Times, the angry protesters said that both the private companies viz Patail Engineering and AFCON engaged by the government in construction of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool power project and in 680 MW Kerru power projects in association with some middleman are employing non-locals instead of giving preference to the local unemployed youths.
They said that despite repeated assurances, the companies as well as the administration fail to address the issue forcing them to hit the road and threaten mass agitation in case the authorities fail to provide jobs to the local unemployed youths including the technical persons viz local engineers.
“They are forcing us to take the law into our own hands. If no jobs to locals, a big no to these power projects,” the angry people said adding that with the construction of these power projects- they are putting the future of their generations to risk of environmental hazards and said that what is the fun to allow the construction of these projects when local unemployed youths get no job benefits from these power projects.
The agitating youth slammed the administration for denying permission to peaceful protest march from Pathernaki to Kerru power project adding that huge police deployment has been put in place to thwart the proposed protest march.
Speaking to Early Times, DDC member from Nagsini Faisal Hussain said that the District Administration didn’t give them the permission to hold a peaceful march.
“Several people assembled at my home with the request to lead the protest.
I somehow pacified the angry youth,” said Faisal.
He said that the angry youths raised slogans against AFCON and Patail Engineering demanding jobs for local unemployed youths.
