| Transgender persons sensitized about welfare schemes | | |

UDHAMPUR, Jan 31: An awareness camp was today held here to sensitize the transgender persons about welfare schemes launched by Government for their welfare. The camp was organised by Social Welfare Department under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Er Sajad Bashir Somberia at ward number -17 Udhampur.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Tilak Raj along with counsellor, Asha Devi made them aware about the provisions of transgender persons (protection of rights) Act 2019 and Government order No.117-JK (SWD) OF 2020 Dated; 29-05-2020, under which the transgender persons have been made eligible for social security schemes and pension benefits.
The DSWO appealed all the participants to register their name with social welfare department and avail the benefits under these welfare schemes. He also called upon the general public to help and aware the transgender about the welfare schemes. |
