Shocking: Mehbooba equates Kashmir situation with Myanmar
2/2/2021 11:52:19 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 2: After being isolated by the constituents of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), former chief minister and president of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti is again resorted to unnecessary attacks on the Union Government.
The PDP president is availing every opportunity to give an impression to the separatist camps that she is openly toeing their hardliner lines. On Tuesday, Mehbooba Mufti compared the post August 5, 2019 situation of J&K with that of Myanmar where the Army has captured the power through a coup. Reacting to the tweet of journalist Suhasini Haidar in which she tweeted a statement of the Ministry of External Affairs. “India expresses "deep concern" over detentions and reports of a military coup in Myanmar, says rule of law and democratic process must be "upheld"’, the statement reads as. Reacting to this statement, Mehbooba tweeted, “Sounds eerily familiar. GOI expresses ‘deep concern’ over detentions & a coup in Myanmar but had no qualms in adopting the same playbook in J&K after the illegal abrogation of Article 370”. On Monday Myanmar’s military staged a coup and detained senior politicians including Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi whose party had won Parliament elections held in November 2020. Commander-in-Chief Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing is now in charge of the country for one year.
Earlier Mehbooba Mufti has alleged that the Union Government was using draconian laws to quell farmers’ protests. “GOIs template of terrorising Kashmiris into silence by using draconian laws & othering them is being extended to other parts of the country.
Be it CAA or farmer law protests both were termed anti national & anti-terror laws like UAPA invoked to quell these peaceful movements”.
