Omar Abdullah throws Harissa party as PAGD goes dormant
2/2/2021 11:53:53 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 2: Amid complaints from the constituents of the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) that the National Conference leadership has gone into “mysterious silence” on politics, former Chief Minister and NC President, Omar Abdullah has been seen busy throwing Harissa parties and appreciating the “beauty of Kashmir.”
Sources said Omar was recently seen enjoying Harissa with his friends at a restaurant in Srinagar.
The development has taken place when the PAGD suffered a setback with the Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone quitting the alliance while leveling serious allegations against the NC in particular.
Sources said Omar Abdullah has gone silent about politics even on his Twitter handle and prefers to post non-controversial tweets mostly about Kashmir.
“From promotion of powdered snow in Kashmir to his liking for the Igloo made in Gulmarg, he (Omar) has been busy with everything enjoyable like Harissa,” ridiculed a senior politician on the condition of anonymity.
The NC leadership has come under the criticism from other parties, who are constituents of the PAGD for the “grand old party’s” silence on politics since the day Dr Farooq Abdullah’s property was attached by the Enforcement Directorate.
The Abdullahs in particular are accused of “changing colors.”
Even though while leaving the PAGD, Sajad Lone who heads the PC had shot a letter to the NC Patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah, the Abdullahs have not responded to the allegations as made by PC.
Interestingly, Omar is busy enjoying Harissa when his arch-rival Mehbooba Mufti has been busy adding fuel to the “provocative sentiment” that seeks restoration of the controversial special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The present difference in the mood of the PAGD leaders suggests that the amalgam is dying its own death and the constituents are happy in its natural death,” said a political observer.
Despite repeated attempts Omar Abdullah was not available for comments.
