Protest against offline examinations, fee collection
2/3/2021 11:25:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 3: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray today staged a strong protest demonstration against the decision of opening schools and conducting offline examinations in the union territory, while demanding concession in school fees.
Terming these decisions of the education department as a conspiracy to benefit private schools, dozens of party leaders, led by state president Manish Sahni, gathered near the Maharaja Hari Singh statue in Jammu today.
Sahni appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha to intervene and provide relief to the students & parents.
Sahni said that the decision for offline examinations and re-opening schools is risky, the state which has decided to open schools has had to repent. He said that College and Jammu University students are also protesting for conducting offline examinations. He said in a warning tone that the decision to reopen the school is entirely up to the education department and the government, and they will also have to take care of any untoward incident.
Sahni advocated for promoting students up to the eighth grade without any examinations and for all other exams should be online.
Raising the voice on fee waiver, Sahni said that the economic condition of the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the corona crisis is not hidden from anyone. The administration should take care of the parents' concern about the fees in a clear manner.
Sahni strongly condemned the deadly attack on Amit Kapoor, the head of the Parents Association last day, and offer full support and advocated strict legal action against the culprits.
On this occasion Meenakshi Chhibber President Women Wing, Rakesh Gupta Chairman, Vikas Bakshi, General Secretary, Ashwani Gupta working Chairman, Vishal Kohli Youth Leader, Raj Singh, Balwant Singh & Bodhraj Secretary, Raju Salaria Joint Secretary, Sofia Sagu Vice President, Geeta Lakotra Secretary, Sanjeev Soodan, Dimple, Rakesh Handa, Zarnail Singh, Rakesh Handa, Sushil Sharma and many others were present.
