| Govt school building in shambles, authorities in slumber | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Feb 3: The building of Government Middle School Thara under Bufliaz zone in Surankote area of district Poonch is lying in shambles for quite some time now while authorities have turned a nelson’s eye towards the plight of the students of the institution.
Due to the official apathy the strength of the students in the school is decreasing gradually as parents do not want to send their children in a school with a dilapidated and unsafe building. The Sarpanch Lower Surankote, Tahir Manzoor Mirza and social activist Mohd Sayeed Mirza as well as locals said that they approached the DC Poonch, Chief Education Officer, Poonch and ZEO Bufliaz for restoration work but no repair job was initiated till date.
They said that due to the rundown condition of the school, it remain shut as an when there is heavy rainfall because there is there danger of that the building may fall.
A group of students of this school said that their study gets affected because of the decrepit school building. “The windows of many rooms are broken and water comes down from the roof top in case there is rain,” they said.
Locals urged upon the Lt Governor Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha on behalf of school children and their parents to intervene and provide them relief. |
