ADDC Udhampur flags off 'Poshan Abhiyan' awareness rally

UDHAMPUR, Feb 5: To sensitize the common masses about the healthy eating, malnutrition and obesity, Department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Udhampur today organized 'POSHAN'Abhiyan' awareness rally here on Friday.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar- the chief guest and BDC Chairman, Balwan Singh -the guest of honour, flagged off the rally from Gole market Udhampur.
Hundreds of AWWs, Supervisors and staff of ICDS participated and raised various slogans to eradicate the menace of malnutrition.
The rally started from Gole Market Udhampur and passed through Main Bazar, Chabutra Bazar, Sailaan Talab and culminated at DPO Office, Udhampur.
After culmination of the rally, an impressive function was organized in the Office premises of ICDS Complex in which a skit was presented by AWWs on the theme Poshan Abhiyaan. An impressive and informative Nukkad Natak was presented by eminent local artist Satya Rishi and Party. The main attraction of the programme was the songs sung by Khushi, a National Awardee Singer.
While addressing the participants, the ADDC said that the main objective of organizing this awareness campaign is to sensitize the general public of the District Udhampur about the nutritional status of children of 0-6-year age, and lactating mothers over three years. He said that it is 'our social and moral responsibility to be a part of Prime Minister's overarching scheme for holistic nutrition to achieve a malnutrition free India.' He also appealed to the common masses of the district to actively participate in the campaign to make the district free from malnutrition.
The BDC Chairman Balwan Singh, PO ICDS, Attar Chand, DSWO, Er Sajad Bashir Somberia, and Medical Officer Dr. Priya also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of Poshan Abhiyan.
Later, sewing machines were also distributed amongst the out of school adolescent girls under the SAG scheme for their Skill Development by the guest of honour on the occasion.
Among others present on the occasion were CDPO Udhampur, Yashpaul Sharma and other officers/officials of concerned department besides supervisors, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and field staff were present on the occasion.
