Amid Govt announcement on restoration of 4G high speed fiber internet gains ground in J&K

Jammu, Feb 5: Amid government announcement on the restoration of 4G internet services in Jammu & Kashmir which was suspended around 18 months ago following the revocation of Article 370 and 35 A from the erstwhile state the high speed internet had already gained very much ground in these last 18 months with private players providing high speed optical cable services with speed up to 200 mbps which is manifold than the 4G internet speed which is being restored in J&K as was announced by Government Spokesperson Rohit Kansal.
As per the details available with Early Times, several private telecom network including Net Plus, Airtel, Jio and other companies had provide around one lakh connections in different districts of Jammu & Kashmir. These private companies offered fiber internet services with plans started right from 30 mbps to 200 mbps on cheaper rates.
“We installed 200 mbps plan internet of Airtel service provider- they charged us around Rs. 3500 which included modem, wire as well as three month free internet” said a hotel owner in Jammu added that earlier they were using the services of net plus prior to outbreak of COVID 19.
Heavy rush of customers is being witnessed in many offices of these internet service providers at Districts like Kishtwar and Doda where there is only one internet service provider net plus offering its services.
“I have applied over two weeks ago— but didn’t get the connection yet- they are charging Rs. 6000– I even offered them to pay extra charges— but I have yet to get my connection through due to huge waiting list” said a customer who is a government employee.
Even though the government has announced that they are restoring the 4G internet services, but many people believe that it could again be shut anytime adding that they will prefer to continue with high speed internet fiber net despite government announcement to restore 4G internet in Jammu & Kashmir.
