SRINAGAR, Feb 7: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 59 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 24,909. As many as 10 districts reported no fresh case of the virus in the past 24 hours or so.
Srinagar district reported 22 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district eight cases, Anantnag district seven cases, Pulwama district six cases, Udhampur district five cases, Budgam district four cases, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kulgam districts two cases each and Shopian district one case. No case was reported from Kupwara, Ganderbal, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 59 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 13 from Jammu division and 46 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,909.
Moreover, 60 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 12 from Jammu division and 48 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,909 positive cases, 630 are active positive, 1, 22,335 have recovered and 1,944 have died; 722 in Jammu division and 1,222 in Kashmir division.
Out of 46, 88,992 test results available, 45, 64,083 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 71,733 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,069 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 630 in isolation and 1, 08,676 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 26,414 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,357 positive cases, 211 active positive, 25,688 recovered, 458 deaths; Baramulla has 8,130 positive cases, 26 active positive, 7,930 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,794 positive cases, 33 active positive, 7,643 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 5,756 positive cases, 49 active positive, 5,619 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,666 positive cases, 17 active positive, 5,553 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,936 positive cases, 56 active positive, 4,794 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,698 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,618 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,644 positive cases, 58 active positive, 4,539 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,702 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,626 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,576 positive cases, 26 active positive, 2,510 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,022 positive cases, 41 active positive, 24,610 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,219 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,143 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,869 positive cases, one active positive, 3,813 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,433 positive cases, five active positive, 3,364 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, three active positive, 3,200 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,832 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,781 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,507 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,462 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, four active positive, 2,110 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,645 positive cases, seven active positive, 1,623 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,909 positive cases in J&K, 11,794 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
