Udhampur DDC reviews implementation of National TB elimination programme

UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla, who is also the Chairman of District Health Society, today reviewed the implementation of National TB elimination programme, here at a meeting of Health department functionaries.
The DDC reviewed the block wise progress of various components of the programme.
The DDC asked the Health Department to involve the PRIs in addition to the health staff & ASHA workers in the process of detection of Active Cases. He said it would improve the TB case detection in the district and help to achieve the TB elimination target by2025, as set by the Prime Minister of India .
The meeting was briefed about the activities being undertaken for Sub National Certification Process towards the TB free district claims.
It was informed that Government of India has randomly selected 10 villages of the District one from each Medical Block for which 10 survey teams have been constituted with NTEP staff to collect the data by conducting door to door survey.
In this regard, 2 WHO CTD Consultants (Dr. Umar & Dr. Sourabh) are deputed by Govt. of India for data verification, supervision & monitoring of survey being conducted. Dr. Rakesh Bahl (IAPSM), Associate Professor, Government Medical College, Jammu being the State Nodal Officer for the whole exercise of Sub National Certification for TB free District is overall monitoring in charge.
Among others, Chief Medical Officer (Vice-Chairman, DHS) Udhampur, Dr. K.C. Dogra; District Information Officer, Er Sajad Bashir Somberia; District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr Kavi Raj; District Health Officer, Dr. Mohammad Yaseen; Dr. Rakesh Bahl, Indian Association for Preventive & Social Medicine (IAPSM); Associate Professor, Govt. Medical College, Jammu, WHO Consultants (Dr. Umar, Dr. Sourabh , Dr. Sanjay) were present in the meeting.
