JAMMU, Feb 9: GDC Sidhra, under the patronship of Principal, Prof. Monika Sharma, organized an orientation lecture on "Together for a Safer Internet" on the occasion of 18th edition of Safer Internet day to detoxify the adverse effects of digital world.
The resource person for the lecture was Vishal Manhas, DYSP, Crime Branch, Jammu. Rehmat Ali, Chairman, BDC Bajalta and Shama Akhtar, corporator Sidhra were amongst the distinguished guests to grace the occasion with their presence.
"Internet- a safer place for all" and "How we can be safer being online" with these words Vishal Manhas started his lecture. He discussed the advantages of internet, online portals as well as focused on vulnerability of computers and cyber crime. He made the students aware about various issues like credit card skimmer, cyber stalking, phishing, email spoofing and targeted attacks using frauds by luring the individual through various means.
Principal of the college thanked the resource person and appreciated him by calling his speech as the most relevant and topical speech. She said that the inputs shared will help the students to face different challenges in this transforming world. The proceedings of the programme were carried by Ms. Nousheen, student, B.A Sem I of the college. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Shonima Malhotra, Assistant Prof. in Sociology. |
