Early Times Report

Suchetgarh, Feb 9: In continuation of signature campaign launched by Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC), a meeting of DPs of 1947 from POK was held at Bidipur, a border village of Tehsil Suchetgarh, to aware the DPs about their legitimate final settlements issues pending redressal for the last seven decades.
Large number of DPs from adjoining villages of Naibasti, Bhojpur, Kotli Mir diyan and Koterana participated and demanded early implementation of JPC on Home Affairs Report No. 183 wherein ex-gratia relief of Rs 30 Lakhs each DP family and employment package/reservation for their wards has been recommended till POK is vacated by GOI and loss of their left-out properties are assessed.
While elaborating the motive behind the signature campaign, Gurdev Singh President JKSAC alongwith Dwarka Nath Khajuria, Des Raj, Gurdial Singh informed that signature campaign has been launched to aware the DPs regarding their legitimate final rehabilitation which is still incomplete and insufficient after lapse of such a long period.
He further informed the participants, that it is being done to apprise President of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah about the injustice the DPs has suffered for such a long time.
He said the genuine and legitimate issues of DPs has never been highlighted and projected by any dispensation or any leading political party of J&K, instead poor DPs have been politically cheated and exploited. He said that, sensing the negative mindset of the higher-ups of the govt. the bureaucrats remained connected with DPs also misguided the govt.
Gurdev Singh alongwith other speaker urged upon the central govt. for early acceptance and implementation of the said JPC report which has laid stress on GOI for early payment of Rs 30 lakhs as ex-gratia relief to each DPs family alongwith reservation of their wards in govt. service and technical institutions till POK is liberated and assessment of loss of their left-out properties is made.
The participants also appealed to Lt. Governor Manoj K. Sinha to take-up the DPs issue with Prime Minister and Home Minister with a proper roadmap as per the JPC Report and as per assurance given to DPs in a meeting held on 19th Dec. 2020.
