VIJAYPUR, Feb 19: GDC Vijaypur organized a two day's NSS Workshop on the theme "Clean Campus- Green Campus" to motivate and orient the newly enrolled students of the NSS Unit of the college.
On the first day, an awareness campaign was launched by the Programme Officer, Sunil Kumar Mangoch along with the Principal, Staff members and the Volunteers.
Sunil Kumar Mangoch in his lecture said that National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched during 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, in 37 Universities involving 40000 students and is an extension dimension to the higher education system to orient the youth to community service while they are studying in educational institutions.
He further added that it is a voluntary association of young people, especially college students with the aim of developing their personality through community service which further involves the task of nation building.
A variety of activities were organized every year to channelize the energy and idealism of the priceless younger generation into creative pursuits.
The second day initiated with the cleanliness of campus and the plantation drive by the NSS volunteers of the college.
Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College exhorted that NSS helps the individuals to infuse a sense of love and responsibility towards the nation and enhances leadership qualities, fraternity, team-spirit and risk-taking capacity amongst students. |
