SRINAGAR, Feb 19: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 81 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 25,715. As many as 10 districts of the union territory reported no fresh case of the virus in the past 24 hours or so.
Srinagar district reported 31 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Pulwama district 13 cases, Jammu district 12 cases, Udhampur district 10 cases, Budgam district five cases, Kulgam and Shopian districts three cases each, Ganderbal district two cases and Baramulla & Bandipora districts one case each. No case was reported from Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Kupwara and Anantnag districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 81 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 22 from Jammu division and 59 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 25,715.
Moreover, 67 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 16 from Jammu division and 51 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 25,715 positive cases, 702 are active positive, 1, 23,059 have recovered and 1,954 have died; 7,25 in Jammu division and 1,229 in Kashmir division.
Out of 49, 67,246 test results available, 48, 41,531 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 42,796 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,944 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 702 in isolation and 1, 08,630 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 97,566 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,718 positive cases, 313 active positive, 25,944 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,174 positive cases, 39 active positive, 7,960 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,850 positive cases, 43 active positive, 7,688 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 5,822 positive cases, 40 active positive, 5,693 recovered, 89 deaths; Kupwara has 5,672 positive cases, five active positive, 5,571 recovered, 96 deaths.
"Anantnag has 4,974 positive cases, 33 active positive, 4,855 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,709 positive cases, 16 active positive, 4,631 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,662 positive cases, 27 active positive, 4,588 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,715 positive cases, 12 active positive, 2,649 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,595 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,533 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,139 positive cases, 97 active positive, 24,669 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,251 positive cases, 27active positive, 4,167 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,873 positive cases, three active positive, 3,815 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,436 positive cases, three active positive, 3,369 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, 3203 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,835 positive cases, five active positive, 2,790 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,733 positive cases, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,479 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 25,715 positive cases in J&K, 12,081 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
