DC inspects four laning work on NH-44, visits DH, GDC Ramban

Ramban, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today inspected progress of four-laning works on NHW stretch from Nashri to Banihal. During the visit, Aditional Deputy Commissioner Ramban (Collector Land Acquisition NHW), Harbans Lal, and Project Director NHAI Parshotam Kumar were also present. On spot directions were issued by the Deputy Commissioner to the construction companies to expedite the pace of construction works on the NHW stretch.
ADC Ramban briefed the DC in detail about the structures and trees coming in the alignment which have already been removed from Nashri to Ramban 25 km, stretch barring Dhalwas, where structures standing along RoW, adjacent to the mosque shall be removed /relocated shortly and the road leading from Ramban to Banihal 41kms length, the land acquisition process is over and the possession of the land has been handed over to NHAI.
All structures and trees standing on the acquired land and along the road have been removed, except four structures in Ramsoo due to court cases. The four-laning work is in progress on the said portion and NHAI has been urged to increase the pace of work on the said 42 km stretch in a planned way, ADC added.
ADC further said that the Banihal-Qazigund tunnel work is in its final stage and shall be ready for commissioning soon. The work of fly-over bridges in Ramban and Banihal was also reviewed and construction companies were instructed to expedite the same in a planned way so that these are completed as per timelines, he added.
Further, Deputy Commissioner has formed Sub Division level committees headed by concerned SDMs to monitor works of construction companies and to resolve issues of public as well as construction companies.
The DC also visited District hospital Ramban and took stock of healthcare facilities being provided to patients.
He also visited Degree College, Ramban and inspected various activities going on in the college campus. Responding to the issues highlighted by the college staff, the DC brought into the notice of Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Department that college is functioning without a Principal for many months and additional charge was given to Principal Degree College, Ukhral.
