Glowing tributes paid to 3 Policemen martyred in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 19: Glowing tributes were paid to three personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police who were martyred in two different militant firing incidents in Srinagar and Badgam districts on Friday.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar and senior officers from police and other security agencies paid floral tributes at the mortal remain of SPO Mohammad Altaf. Family members of Altaf, including his father also paid floral tributes to him at District Police Lines (DPL), Srinagar.
SPO Altaf and Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) Manzoor Ahmad were injured when militants hiding in a house resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons in Beerwah in Badgam early this morning. Altaf later succumbed on way to hospital. However, militants managed to escape from the cordoned off area in an injured condition.
Hundreds of people joined the” Nimaz Jinazah” of Altaf who was later laid to rest at his ancestral grave yard. Large number of people, including women, visited the house of Altaf to condole his death.
IGP Kumar said a Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) has been launched in a village two kms from the encounter area as it is believed that both the militants are hiding there.
Later, wreath laying ceremony was organized again at DPC Srinagar to pay tributes to two police personnel
SgCT Mohammad Yousuf resident of Zurhama Kupwara and Constable Suhail Ahmad of Logripora Aishmuqam in south Kashmir. Later their mortal remains were sent to their respective villages.
