SRINAGAR, Feb 28: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 58 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,441; death toll reached 1957 with one death being reported from Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 28 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 11 cases, Baramulla district five cases, Kupwara district three cases, Pulwama, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Bandipora and Shopian districts two cases each and a case in Budgam district. No fresh case was reported from 10 districts with a death being reported from Kupwara district.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 58 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 11 from Jammu division and 47 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,441. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 62 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including nine from Jammu division and 53 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,441 positive cases, 823 are active positive, 1, 23,661 have recovered and 1,957 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,232 in Kashmir division.
Out of 52, 01,665 test results available, 50, 75,224 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 07,198 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,618 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 823 in isolation and 1, 08,210 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 62,590 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,019 positive cases, 344 active positive, 26,214 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,260 positive cases, 84 active positive, 8,001 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,881 positive cases, 31 active positive, 7,730 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,857 positive cases, 36 active positive, 5,731 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,686 positive cases, 12 active positive, 5,577 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,018 positive cases, 36 active positive, 4,896 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,718 positive cases, 20 active positive, 4,636 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,670 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,609 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,731 positive cases, 18 active positive, 2,659 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,608 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,547 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,228 positive cases, 118 active positive, 24,737 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,313 positive cases, 64 active positive, 4,192 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, two active positive, 3,819 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,260 positive cases, four active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,839 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,792 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, five active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, five active positive, 2,491 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,441 positive cases in J&K, 12,329 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
