Javadekar virtually inaugurates Photo-Exhibition at Brig Rajender Singh Pura, Samba

JAMMU, Mar 13: To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav), Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Shri Prakash Javadekar today virtually inaugurated photo- exhibitions at 7 places, one of which was organized by Regional Outreach Bureau, J&K at Brigadier Rajender Singh Pura, Bagoona, Samba, J&K. While inaugurating the exhibitions, the Minister said that this is an important moment for the country to reflect on how far we have come since independence as well as envision what we want to achieve in next twenty five years. The Minister added that freedom for the country came at a great cost, and this exhibition seeks to narrate the story behind those sacrifices.
Shri Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of I&B during the inauguration said that the National Committee headed by Union Minister of Home Affairs has tasked each Ministry to work towards educating people on the efforts of the people who contributed to the freedom struggle. The Secretary said a digital version of these exhibitions is in the making and is expected to be unveiled before 15th August.
The exhibition at Samba highlighted the contribution of freedom stalwarts like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose etc. by displaying rare pictures and videos of the freedom struggle of India.
The exhibition displayed rare footage dedicated to different historical events happened during the freedom struggle of India like the Dandi March started by Mahatma Gandhi, the glimpses of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the freedom struggle, and of Subhash Chandra Bose and others.
The exhibition at Samba also dedicated special photos in the honor of Brigadier Rajender Singh who is well known to defend single-handedly the attack of Pakistan backed tribesmen in J&K in October, 1947 and became the first recipient of Mahavir Chakra of Independent India.
Besides rare pictures and videos showcasing the freedom struggle of India, the exhibition also displayed popular folk songs and dances of Jammu region like the Kud Dance and Geetru Folk Song and Dance during the inauguration.
The students from various institutes and the local population across Samba district visited the exhibition throughout the day.
