Azad loyalists in dock, Patil arriving next week
3/14/2021 12:02:09 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 13: A day after dropping Ghulam Nabi Azad’s name fron list of ‘star campaigners’ for the forthcoming assembly elections for five states, Congress high-command has reportedly asked AICC incharge J&K Rajni Patil to act tough against his (Azad’s) loyalists in the Union Territory (UT).
Reliable sources said that Rajni Patil is coming to Jammu on March 20 to hold crucial meeting with office bearers of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) to prepare lists of all loyalists of Azad so as to initiate action against them.
“Already party has prepared show-causes which will be served to some loyalists of Azad for boycotting official functions for the last some months”, sources said and revealed that process of taking action against them would be expedited after Jammu’s rally.
Sources said that earlier Congress high-command was mulling over giving some time to Azad loyalists in J&K to mend their ways but now it has been decided to take action as early as possible.
“During her stay at Jammu, Rajni Patil would seek opinion of all senior leaders, district and block presidents besides heads of the frontal organizations before taking action against Azad loyalists”, sources said and aired apprehensions that infighting in the Congress would likely to be intensified after this action of the high-command.
A day after visit of G-23 leaders in Jammu in the month of February, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief G A Mir along with Rajni Patil had met with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. “During the meeting it was decided that party would not tolerate any indiscipline”, sources said.
As reportedly earlier by this newspaper, the Congress high-command has reportedly asked J&K unit to take action against loyalists of Azad to give a message to the former leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
