Marwah Sarpanches call on Secretary RDD, demand restoration of V Set internet

Jammu, Mar 16: The Sarpanches of far flung area of Marwah today called on Secretary Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department Sheetal Nanda and urged upon her to get the RDD offices functional at Marwah and other two blocks of Sub Division Marwah viz Warwan and Dachhan beside also urged her to get the internet services functional at Marwah.
As per the details available with Early Times, Marwah Sarpanches lead by Sarpanch Yurdoo Nazir Ahmed along with Sarpanch Mohammad Ramzan, Bilal Ahmed Khanday, Amjad Lone, Sajja Begum, Bilal Mohudin and other Panches meet Secretary RDD&PR and apprised him about the problems faced by the people of the area added that the RDD department has only a name sake office in the area as all the employees including Block Development Officer operate from the District Headquarters at Kishtwar.
“The non availability of internet connectivity and absence of the concerned staff from the area also forces the elected Panchayat representatives to come to Kishtwar for official works including disbursement of payments to the people” said Sarpanch Nazir Ahmed.
Nazir told the Early Times, that Marwah even in 21st century has no electricity and no proper road connectivity and it took two days to people to reach District Headquarter Kishtwar via Anantnag. He said that the V-Set which is the government property and unfortunately it functions at private complex wherein people are being charged added that their is immediate need to restore internet services in the area with immediate effect.
“We urged Secretary RDD to direct the concerned officials to remain permanently available at the block headquarters beside providing facility of internet services at Marwah so as to enable the panchayat representatives to work effectively in coordination with the department” said Nazir Ahmed.
Meanwhile Secretary RDD ask Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to arrange for internet facility in Block Marwah.
