| Bronze Medal for Shreya Gupta in Junior fencing Nationals | | |

Jammu, Mar 17: A commonwealth medalist and ace fencer of J&K UT, Shreya Gupta has brought laurels to J&K UT by winning sole Individual medal in the ongoing 28 th junior National championship being held at Rudarpur, Uttrakhand from 15 th to 17 March. Shreya won a bronze in sabre women individual category by defeating her opponents comprehensively to reach the semifinals. In a thrilling semifinal she lost to experienced Saniya of Punjab in a very close contest by a narrow margin of 15-14.
It is pertinent to add that Shreya secured gold in this event in last year National championships. Besides being a commonwealth championship medalist, she has won about 22 medals at National level. She has been conferred with State award 2019, received Sher-i-Kashmir sports award 2018 and S.Rangil Singh award 2018 for excellence in sports. Few days back, Secretary J&K Sports council Nuzhat Gull, awarded her with an International kit for her achievements in Sports. Shreya Gupta has been getting training from sports council coach Shotu Lal and being guided by International players Rashid Ahmed Choudhry and Ujwal Gupta. Meanwhile Secretary, J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gull has applauded and congratulated Shreya Gupta for winning the medal.
