SRINAGAR, Mar 23: The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu & Kashmir reached 1983 as two more people died due to the virus in the Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours; the total number of positive cases reached 1, 28,836 following 157 new cases.
Srinagar district reported 56 fresh cases of Corona Virus including 25 travelers followed by Jammu district 39 cases, Baramulla district 23 cases, Budgam district 14 cases, Kathua district five cases, Pulwama, Kupwara, Anantnag and Udhampur districts three cases each, Kulgam, Rajouri and Samba districts two cases each and a case each in Bandipora & Reasi districts. Two deaths were reported from Srinagar district.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 157 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 52 from Jammu division and 105 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 28,836. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been received from Kashmir division.
The bulletin said that 81 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 11 from Jammu Division and 70 from Kashmir Division. Out of 1, 28,836 positive cases, 1,410 are active positive, 1, 25,443 have recovered and 1,983 have died; 732 in Jammu division and 1,251 in Kashmir division.
Out of 58, 00,849 test results available, 56, 72,013 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 14, 47,291 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 29,110 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,410 in isolation and 1, 24,739 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 90,049 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 28,173 positive cases, 701 active positive, 27,005 recovered, 467 deaths; Baramulla has 8,524 positive cases, 130 active positive, 8,216 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 8,060 positive cases, 96 active positive, 7,844 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,936 positive cases, 40 active positive, 5,804 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,739 positive cases, 22 active positive, 5,620 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,114 positive cases, 14 active positive, 5,006 recovered, 94 deaths; Bandipora has 4,737 positive cases, 15 active positive, 4,660 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,696 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,635 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,764 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,690 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,638 positive cases, 27 active positive, 2,571 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,585 positive cases, 262 active positive, 24,944 recovered, 379 deaths; Udhampur has 4,335 positive cases, 12 active positive, 4,266 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,886 positive cases, eight active positive, 3,823 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,449 positive cases, nine active positive, 3,376 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,281 positive cases, 10 active positive, 3,218 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,848 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,800 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,739 positive cases, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,535 positive cases, 12 active positive, 2,499 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,138 positive cases, two active positive, 2,115 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,659 positive cases, nine active positive, 1,634 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 28,836 positive cases, 12,929 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
