How many hours should study to crack NEET-2021
3/23/2021 11:53:49 PM
VIJAY GarG

NEET is one of the most coveted and anticipated exams for medical aspirants conducted every year. This exam enables students to seek admissions to medical programmes across the nation and fulfil their dreams of becoming successful medical professionals. But the question is how far does our intent imitate our actions? Not many times. But for someone who wants to crack NEET, not only get through it, but also manage to get a good NEET score, must work extremely hard towards it. This comes with dedication, discipline, and laser-like focus.
When students start preparing, they usually start off with a study planner customized as per their daily schedule while managing their classes, board exam preparation as well as NEET exam preparation. The most important question that arises here is how much time to dedicate for NEET exam preparation.
Experts suggest that students must allocate time and dedicatedly concentrate first on preparing for their board examinations. Once the board exams are done, they can start off with their NEET exam preparation. However, while preparing for board exams, since the syllabus, 80% comprises NCERT for NEET too, you can allocate 1-2 hours to study for NEET while preparing for board exams.
Post board exams, one needs to allocate at least 11-14 hours a day for NEET exam preparation. Following are some points around which you can prepare your NEET study planner.
Start your day early. As early as 5 am. At this time of the day, you are going to study those topics which require utmost attention of yours, perhaps challenging/difficult topics. Continue to study for 2-3 hours with a 5-minute break after every hour
Take a break of an hour or so to finish your morning routine
From 10 in the morning, start off to study until 1 pm a topic you find to be time-consuming. Avoid taking breaks during this slot
You can have a prolonged break for lunch, as long as 2 hours after the continuous studying from morning
Once you are done with your break, you can start off from 3.30-4 pm until 6.30-7 pm. Here you can catch up on topics that are easy and quick to grasp. Or can solve some previous years’ papers, creating the exact exam scenario and solving papers. In a day, try to solve at least 90 MCQs under the stipulated time
After this, you can have your dinner and get back to studying for the next 2 hours. Here you can study the easy topics, take a 10-minute break
Once done with the break, you are going to study for the last 2 hours of the day. This slot will comprise the easiest topics, revisions, activities involving fewer efforts.
The last and most important tip is that one must catch up on some sound sleep, your brain needs equal time to rest and prepare for the next day.
Don’t let activities such as social media browsing, friends, and other extra-curricular divides your attention. Remind yourself of your dream medical college, perfect NEET score, and work towards it.
