Weekly block Diwas held across district Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Mar 24: Amid the inclement weather conditions, the block diwas programme was today held at all the designated places of district Kishtwar.
The main programme was held here at conference hall DC office complex under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafqat Hussain Bhat; Block Development Council chairperson Kishtwar Suresh Sharma; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar; Joint Director Planning, Mohd Iqbal; Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch; District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Parveaz Qazi besides other District and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
The BDC chairman and other PRI members projected grievances and demands pertaining to their respective blocks and Panchayats.
The main issues highlighted in the programme were the testing of water samples in the block Kishtwar, repair of 25 hand pumps in the Panchayat Pochhal, expediting the construction work on Hatta-Pochhal road, issues related to the dumping of the solid waste in Poochhal area, bottlenecks in laying and fitting the water supply pipe for Poochal, pending land and structure compensation, renovation of the water reservoir at Semana, black topping of Ram Mandir-Semana road, issues related to approaching road to HS Banderna, rationalisation of staff in various government schools of block Kishtwar, maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness at water reservoirs, timely payments of MGNREGA wages, registration of new houses within the Municipal Limits, early taking up of the works under the "My Town My pride" , maintenance of proper drainage alongside the NHIDCL from bus stand to Malipeth; unavailability of building and construction material in the district etc.
The other grievances highlighted were the expediting the process of changing the vendors in RDD sectors, distribution of solar lights under B2V and FC 14, payment of compensation for damaged Saffron crop, rationlizing of the electricity Bills etc.
After listening to the grievances, the DC redressed most of them on the spot and passed a slew of directions to the concerned for the same.
