SRINAGAR, Mar 24: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a quantum jump in COVID-19 cases as 195 more people got affected due to the virus in the past 24 hours. Following the fresh cases the total number of positive cases reached 1, 29,031.
Srinagar district reported 77 new cases of Corona Virus including 23 travelers followed by Jammu district 35 cases, Baramulla district 29 cases, Budgam district 16 cases, Kupwara district 15 cases, Anantnag and Poonch districts three cases each, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba and Ramban districts two cases each and a case each in Bandipora, Kulgam, Doda, Kishtwar & Reasi districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 195 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 49 from Jammu division and 146 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 29,031.
Moreover, 92 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 23 from Jammu division and 69 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 29,031 positive cases, 1,513 are active positive, 1, 25,535 have recovered and 1,983 have died; 732 in Jammu division and 1,251 in Kashmir division.
Out of 58, 30,758 test results available, 57, 01,727 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 14, 54,052 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 29,513 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,513 in isolation and 1, 25,175 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 95,868 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 28,250 positive cases, 731 active positive, 27,052 recovered, 467 deaths; Baramulla has 8,553 positive cases, 159 active positive, 8,216 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 8,076 positive cases, 107 active positive, 7,849 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,938 positive cases, 42 active positive, 5,804 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,754 positive cases, 32 active positive, 5,625 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,117 positive cases, 11 active positive, 5,012 recovered, 94 deaths; Bandipora has 4,738 positive cases, 16 active positive, 4,660 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,698 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,638 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,765 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,692 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,638 positive cases, 26 active positive, 2,572 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,620 positive cases, 283 active positive, 24,958 recovered, 379 deaths; Udhampur has 4,335 positive cases, 12 active positive, 4,266 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,888 positive cases, nine active positive, 3,824 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,450 positive cases, 10 active positive, 3,376 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,283 positive cases, 12 active positive, 3,218 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,850 positive cases, nine active positive, 2,800 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,740 positive cases, one active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,538 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,499 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,140 positive cases, four active positive, 2,115 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,660 positive cases, two active positive, 1,642 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 29,031 positive cases in J&K, 12,960 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
