Kashmir Tulip Garden gets PM’s endorsement, Jammu’s Floriculture Deptts website missing
Sorry state of affairs of Jammu’s developmental projects

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 28: The Tulip Garden of Kashmir valley recently got endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi but the sorry state of affairs of Jammu region could be gauged from the even the official website of Directorate of Floriculture Jammu was not available on the internet, speaking volumes of callousness about the attitude of administration towards this region.
As the tulips bloom in the famous Kashmir valley’s Tulip Garden located on the foothills of Zabarwan Mountains, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted from his official handle on 24th of March, which reads, “Tomorrow, 25th March is special for Jammu and Kashmir. A majestic tulip garden on the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains will open for visitors. The Garden will see over 15 lakh flowers of more than 64 varieties in bloom”.
PM again tweeted, “Whenever you get the opportunity, do visit Jammu and Kashmir and witness the scenic Tulip festival. In addition to the tulips, you will experience the warm hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir”.
The PM had also uploaded a few photographs of majestic tulip beds.
Though the tweet by PM was more than praiseworthy as PM had a wide range of followers and his one tweet could easily make an unknown destination known to the global world.
However the parks and gardens across Jammu and Kashmir fall under the Department of Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, which has two separate Directorates of Jammu and Kashmir region.
But there is something strange in the case of Jammu region as the official website of the Directorate of Floriculture Jammu was unavailable on the internet. Despite repeated searches on Sunday by this correspondent, the website was missing, while the website of Directorate of Floriculture Kashmir was available with the address http://dofk.in/.
“It is very disappointed to find out that the official website of a Directorate is not available, which speaks a lot about the callous attitude towards the parks and gardens of Jammu region, where also the flowers are in full bloom but fail to find space in national media-space, so that Jammu will also get footfall of tourists”, an official said.
Director Floriculture Jammu KS Chib said that the Directorate has a separate website and it might not be updated or being updated due to which it might not be available for online visitors for some time.
He assured that he would look into the details and take proper action.
