‘Misuse’ of CM’s secret fund lands Mehbooba in trouble

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 28: Although she is trying to present a brave face after being quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleged ‘misuse’ of the Chief Minister’s secret fund has landed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti in a deep trouble.
R eliable sources told The Early Times that during five-hour long questioning sleuths of ED asked Mehbooba Mufti to divulge details of the secret fund she had used during her tenure as chief minister of the erstwhile state of J&K.
“ED has managed to collect some convincing evidences which substantiated the allegations that her secret funds were misused to give monetary help to some anti-national forces”, sources said and added that Wahid Parra-the blue-eyed boy of Mehbooba Mufti had reportedly misused the secret funds in the name of ‘engaging youth of Kashmir towards constructive activities’.
Fearing that misuse of this fund would create trouble for her in the coming days when investigations in this case proceed, Mehbooba Mufti asserted “I think no chief minister in the country is supposed to divulge the details of his/her secret funds. Anyways, I clarified to ED that my secret funds would go in engaging the youth for doing surveys on Dal lake and Traffic management etc.”
Sources said that Wahid Parra was the brain behind the campaign which was launched to engage youth in different activities. “It is believed that it was during this campaign that Chief Minister’s secret fund was mis-used to help some anti-national elements”, sources said.
A huge secret fund is at the disposal of every chief minister of the country. During her tenure as Chief Minister of J&K during PDP-BJP regime Mehbooba Mufti had utilized this huge secret fund.
Meanwhile on Sunday Mehbooba dubbed ED and NIA as “caged parrots of the Centre”, claiming that the agencies were doing only what they were asked to do by the ruling dispensation in India.
