EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 31: Some Kashmiri Pandit families, who are presently residing in migrant camp at Jagti, Jammu have alleged that their ancestral land in Khorawara village of Kralgund area in the Kupwara district has been damaged by the authorities of Revenue and Rural Development Departments to pave way for expansion of playground of a Government Middle School in the area. According to landowners, the border of their land and school ground is uneven which could not be fenced unless a protection wall is raised between the two, because our land is situated on high level while beneath it falls the school premises.
They further alleged that concerned Tehsildar and Block Development Officer (BDO) together have ordered to start the desilting work of the land which has damaged to a large extent the plateau type tableland of Dhar families which is situated at higher level than the school premises.
They said that de-silting of the land from the lower side in order to expand the playground of the school has damaged the upper portion of the tableland on which trees of walnuts and other plants were planted, now have been uprooted due to erosion, they added. Members of Dhar family led by T N Dhar and Rattan Lal Dhar while talking to Early Times said that they approached the concerned Tehsildar and BDO besides the Assistant Development Commissioner a number of times but their plea has fallen to deaf ears.
They urged the LG administration to intervene into the matter and save their land from further damages.
