Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 31: As central agencies have started investigation against alleged 'misdeeds' of the top leadership, the People's Democratic Party has cancelled the forthcoming political events.
Officially the party has claimed that forthcoming events were cancelled due to surge in the Corona cases, sources said it was result of recent developments that PDP leadership has decided to stall activities for the time being.
Reliable sources said that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has received a severe jolt when application for renewal of her passport by rejected by the authorities due to adverse report from the CID.
Wishing anonymity a senior party leader has admitted that PDP has received setback after recent developments. "On the one hand, almost all senior leaders have quitted the party while on the other hand central agencies have started pressuring our leadership on one and another issue", he said and added that party cadre was completely demoralized at this point of time.
Sources said that during the last few weeks party has organized functions at district level but participation of the people was not on the expected lines. "Almost all mass base leaders have resigned. Those who are still active in the party are finding it difficult to work in this situation", he said.
Recently Mehbooba Mufti had addressing some meetings in different parts of Kashmir Valley to revive shattered confidence of the cadre but she was failed to convince leaders and workers who have been quitting the party during the last some months.
Sources said that party had planned to organized youth convention on April 4 and Srinagar district convention on April 10 but both the events have been cancelled. "While as youth president of the party Wahid Parra is already in jail in terror case, party's face in Srinagar district Khurshid Alam had resigned from the PDP recently", sources said, adding, "in the prevailing situation leadership has no option but to cancel these event".
Meanwhile Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the house of senior PDP leader Sartaj Madni, who is also her maternal uncle, was raided by RR camp Devsar on Wednesday.
"Army from RR Camp Devsar raided the house of PDPs Sartaj Madni. The place was turned upside down & these personnel also thrashed boys. Its shameful that they violated all rules & code of conduct with such impunity @ChinarcorpsIA", she tweeted.
