COVID-19 recovery rate in JK comes down to 95.51%; 573 new cases, three fresh deaths

SRINAGAR, Apr 4: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir that had reached almost 98 percent not long back came down to 95.51 percent as an unprecedented spike is being witnessed in the fresh virus related cases in the past couple of weeks or so.
The union territory reported 573 new cases of Corona Virus in the past 24 hours following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 33,012. With three deaths being reported during the same period of time the number of casualties due to the virus mounted to 2,008.
Srinagar district reported 208 new cases including 62 travelers followed by Jammu district 92 cases, Baramulla district 84 cases, Budgam district 41 cases, Kulgam district 37 cases, Bandipora district 18 cases, Anantnag district 17 cases, Kupwara district 16 cases, Shopian district 12 cases, Kathua district 11 cases, Pulwama district 10 cases, Ganderbal district eight cases, Udhampur district seven cases, Samba district four cases, Doda district three cases, Rajouri and Ramban districts two cases each and one case in Poonch district. Srinagar, Jammu and Budgam districts each reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 573 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 122 from Jammu division and 451 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 33,012. Also three COVID-19 deaths have been reported, one from Jammu division and two from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 189 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 39 from Jammu division and 150 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 33,012 positive cases, 3,955 are active positive, 1, 27,049 have recovered and 2,008 have died; 741 in Jammu division and 1,267 in Kashmir division.
Out of 62, 11,099 test results available, 60, 78,087 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 40,680 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 48,489 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,955 in isolation and 1, 21,219in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 65,009 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 29,807 positive cases, 1,526 active positive, 27,807 recovered, 474 deaths; Baramulla has 9,183 positive cases, 601 active positive, 8,401 recovered, 181 deaths; Budgam has 8,398 positive cases, 309 active positive, 7,968 recovered, 121 deaths; Pulwama has 6,030 positive cases, 101 active positive, 5,837 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,857 positive cases, 102 active positive, 5,658 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,234 positive cases, 88 active positive, 5,050 recovered, 96 deaths; Bandipora has 4,808 positive cases, 66 active positive, 4,679 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,745 positive cases, 49 active positive, 4,647 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,915 positive cases, 154 active positive, 2,707 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,668 positive cases, 37 active positive, 2,591 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,196 positive cases, 661 active positive, 25,152 recovered, 383 deaths; Udhampur has 4,378 positive cases, 39 active positive, 4,281 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,912 positive cases, 28 active positive, 3,828 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,466 positive cases, 13 active positive, 3,389 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,393 positive cases, 82 active positive, 3,258 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,882 positive cases, 33 active positive, 2,808 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,756 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,553 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,165 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,119 recovered, 22 deaths and Reasi has 1,666 positive cases, six active positive, 1,644 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 33,012 positive cases in J&K, 13,720 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
