Citizens' Forum expresses concern over slow rate of Covid vaccination
4/14/2021 11:28:03 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 14: Citizens' Forum has expressed grave concern over the slow rate of covid vaccination programme in India in general and J&K in particular.
R K Chadha, president Citizens' Forum said with 3000 covid vaccination centers and 34 private facilities J&K UT is far behind as against other small states in the country. Chhattisgarh has vaccinated 44 lakh people as against only 4.5 lakh people in J&K UT. One shudders to know the covid vaccination figures of India as USA have fully vaccinated 22% and Israel 54% population where India has vaccinated only 1% of its huge population.
He said Center government instead of providing covid vaccines to states is selling them to other countries, creating shortage of vaccine for our own people. Now Russian Vaccine Saputnik V is on the verge of getting as emergency use in India as the states with shortage of vaccines reverting to lock downs to cope with country's second wave of coronavirus which has reached 1,68000 per day positive. Under the circumstances people of UT feel helpless.
He requested LG Manoj Sinha to open more vaccination centers, allow Private Hospitals and clinics to start vaccinations or involve Municipal Corporators to start vaccination at work places in their areas under their supervision. Chadha urged LG to see there is no shortage of vaccines in J&K UT, adding that rush of Vaisno Devi and Amarnath yatra pilgrims are going to make things worse if proper medical preparations are not available in Jammu.
