EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Apr 14: A Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of one of the districts of Jammu regions has allegedly facilitated illegal felling and transportation of Khair wood. Although several inquiries were set up on this issue but same were failed to reach to conclusion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Early Times had already published stories on illegal felling of Khair wood with active connivance of the concerned officials. It has been observed that felling were took place in those forestry closures, which were not given permission and this happened with the help of DFO and other officials.
When the matter reached the senior official of the Forest Department, he sent a team for inspection and they found that illegal felling had been done but no action was taken against the culprits including concerned Block Officer, Range Officer and DFO.
“A permission order of transportation was issued with order no. CCF-J-PS-770-81 dated 24-3-2021 by K Ramesh Kumar, Chief Conservator Forest but DFO violated order,” they said.
Locals lodged a complaint with a senior forest officer that Pouni to Reasi three trucks laden with khair wood with geo tag photo were released by DFO on 1-4-2021 despite the fact that the permission of upto 31-3-2021. These trucks were seized but later released by DFO on 5-4-2021 by giving reason that the tyre of one truck was punctured and another truck had to stop to help, which was the reason for delay.
All documents related to this matter are with Early Times, which clearly shows the gross violation of guidelines by the concerned DFO. Locals appealed to LG and demanded CBI inquiry into this matter. When CCF Rajouri was contacted, he said that he is busy in meetings. Meanwhile CCF Jammu K Ramesh also didn't pick up the phone.
