Early Times Report
SAMBA, Apr 14: In continuation to its drive against bovine smugglers, Samba Police has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine by rescuing 12 bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a Police Party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal signalled to stop a Truck having Registration No JK02AQ-3117 coming from Kathua side and moving towards Srinagar.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and fled away from the spot. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it a few metres away from the naka point. However the driver managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, 12 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 86/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
