POONCH, Apr 14: The first batch of 12 candidates who were identified and counselled on April 5 and 6 were flagged off for training under the Himayat Scheme from Gulpur village of Poonch district to Jammu.
These students will now be trained by the Wockhardt Foundation under Himayat Mission to undergo training, as a General Duty Assistance. The entire cost of the course including boarding and lodging will be borne by the government. This is in wake of the overall initiative of the government with assistance from Indian Army to ensure education and employment to the youth of J&K.
The flagging off Ceremony was held in Gulpur and Padma Shree Awardee, SN Khajuria, from Poonch and Mohd Asgar Khan, Sarpanch of Gulpur conducted the honours.
SN Khajuria encouraged the youth present at the occasion to work hard and grab every opportunity which the government was providing. He also thanked the Armed forces for their persistent efforts to empower the youths in the remote areas in the region.
The hand-picked aspirants also thanked the government and the Indian Army for giving them this golden opportunity. In spite of lack of infrastructure and educational institutions in the area, the youth in the region are determined to work hard and usher in peace and prosperity.
